Energy Efficiency

From solar lights to climate controlled thermostats, we’ve re-designed our resort and taken countless steps to reduce our carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions.

Waste Reduction

With reusable aluminum (PATH) water bottles available in all rooms, we’ve reduced our bottled waste by 86% and our total waste volume by 76%, helping prevent plastics from damaging local ecosystems.

The Local Community

We employ local team members  and when possible source sustainable products locally. We also host beach cleanup days and run employee volunteer days.

Sustainability at Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort

Our Island, Our Responsibility

Since 1959, Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort has been at the heart of Palm Beach. As the island’s first resort, we’ve witnessed Aruba’s natural beauty inspire generations of guests—and we’re committed to preserving it for generations to come. Our approach to sustainability flows naturally from our values: nurturing joy, forging connections and sustaining legacy. Every choice reflects our belief that responsible stewardship and legendary hospitality go hand in hand. Our social and environmental commitments shine through in every welcome. It’s who we are and it’s who we want to be. Together, we’re ensuring that the spirit of your stay truly stays with you, and that Aruba remains “One Happy Island” for all who visit.

Every sunrise over Palm Beach reminds us why environmental stewardship matters. Across our tropical acres, we take thoughtful steps to reduce our footprint while maintaining the comfort and ease generations of guests have enjoyed since 1959. We recently renovated our resort with sustainability in mind, too. Here are just some of the energy-efficient features we added:

  • Climate-controlled thermostats – balances comfort with energy-efficient AC use.
  • Motion-sensor lighting – ensures lights aren’t accidentally left on in our offices.
  • Solar-powered garden lighting – uses the Aruban sun to light your way at night.
  • EV charging stations – helps you reduce emissions while exploring the island.
  • Rainwater collection pumps – saves water for irrigating our gardens.
  •  Grease trap system – fi lters used water, making it easier to treat and reuse.

Plus, the exterior paintwork helps keep rooms cool by deflecting the sun’s heat, while the gentle sea breeze cools down our open-air lobby. These thoughtful design features mean we rely less on air conditioning.

We offer all guests refillable aluminium (PATH) bottles and have installed water and ice stations in each of our towers and throughout the property. These simple steps have made a huge difference—we’ve cut plastic bottle disposal by 86 percent leading to 50 percent less waste weight heading to landfills and 75 percent less volume cluttering our island. Plus, as producing and transporting bottled water requires a significant amount of energy, offering refillable PATH water bottles reduces our resort’s carbon footprint. As a guest, you’ll be drinking some of the world’s cleanest tap water, too—Aruba’s advanced desalination process exceeds international standards and turns our Caribbean seawater into pristine drinking refreshments that rivals any bottled brand. Since Aruba banned single-use plastics in 2020, this program helps us honor that commitment while ensuring you stay hydrated throughout your stay.

The heart of “One Happy Island” beats strongest when locals and guests come together. We prioritize hiring local team members, whose genuine warmth and knowledge deliver the legendary hospitality our guests have enjoyed for over six decades. Through Fair Trade principles, we source sustainable products and services from Aruban suppliers—from fresh ingredients to locally produced furnishings that add island character to our rooms and shared spaces. We also organize employee volunteering days, during which our team members donate their time to support local charities such as food banks, schools and animal shelters.
