The Home of the Aruba Ariba
Discover the birthplace of the island’s most iconic cocktail. Back in 1963, bartender Juan “Jocky” Tromp invented the Aruba Ariba or as he called it, the Ariba Aruba. During a mixology contest at the Aruba Caribbean Hotel in 1963, Jocky crafted his special recipe and wrote it on a napkin,
standing out as the best. Though Jocky has since
passed away, his legacy lives on in Aruba’s signature
vacation cocktail. Every year on July 1, we celebrate
Aruba Ariba Day to honor that legacy.
